Ross,

I am really impressed with your response, and have downloaded and reviewed your "package" you gave away here...

I am also impressed with your further explanation. :)

Anyone, whether complete newbie, or seasoned veteran...can learn from the download Ross provided...and from the handling of this situation.

Hats off to you Ross.

Awesome! Can't wait to download and read.

I especially appreciate not seeing a full-out argument ensue. Read too many of those folks who do "act like 2-year-olds" and frankly, I'm too old to give a darn.

Hi Ross, I gotta say that I agree with you. When I first started my learning curve I subbed to literally everything, signed up for every free call, d/led every mp3 I could find. Result, info overload; I had to learn to organize all the info. Good lesson. Organization is a good thing. Eventually I began understand and began pulling it all together. Any yes, there was conflicting advice, but after time I began to be able to sort it out on my own. I could go back and re-listen to to things that earlier were "over my head." Final result is that I have developed a sense of discrimination and now can tell the hype from the straight and even though I still sign up for everything, I can figure out fairly quickly what to keep & what to toss.
This is a FAR cry from buying everything in sight. I recently listened to a marketing call that was selling an expensive package that is meant to be installed on a server. From the questions I could tell that 70% of the people listening had NO idea what the package was about. My conscience would never permit me to sell something like that to a clueless mark. Gives everyone a bad name when they realize that for them, the package is useless. One person was even worried about viruses coming to his machine if he bought this. To this individual above all, the promoter should have said "this is way too advanced for you, go learn the basics first." But no, he was reassured that he would be walked through everything. To their credit they did explain it was server based, but I don't think the caller "got it." Seemed like everyone was hot to buy because there only whatever number packages available. Well, I guess the world will end for me if I'm not on that bandwagon. If it does, so be it, 'cause I wouldn't spend 4k on that knowing what I know now. LOL. What I know now came from countless hours of digging around through the mud. You never know where the next little nugget will come from.
Maybe listowners might begin qualifying subscribers as to their level of knowledge -- but that really isn't realistic. Besides, how can anyone figure out which 2-3 marketers to choose to follow unless they sample a bit of everything?
Just my nickel --adjusted for inflation.

No worries Hugh.

I've inserted my foot into my mouth so many times that I can taste it from a distance.

It takes a real man to stand up and admit that he made a mistake.

Thanks,
Ross

Ross,
I had a look at the whole thread on Rick's blog. And of course here, too.

I am impressed with your professionalism and your willingness to explain your words. Your reaction to his reaction is FABULOUS.

Your three points above about what you've learned about negativity and perspecitve are good lessons for anyone, not just Internet marketers.

You've boosted your credibility with me ten-fold.

Warmly,
Felicia

Ross, that was done with finesse. I am glad you provided better context for your comments to make it more useful. You deflected the venom beautifully.
