    Ross, my man!

I am thoroughly impressed with your response. It takes a big man to embrace and “steer into” a challenge.

I’m going to post your video on the exact post as an update - with a link to your report.

In the end - a good Web 2.0 conversation brings the best to light - and you’ve done a fabulous job of turning this situation into value.

    Thanks for clarifying!

This is an amazing example of perspective.

Rick took my comments as discounting his and I wasn’t clear enough with my original post (which will remain unchanged so you might learn something…).

So, I made a decision to address this situation professionally. I used to handle situations like this as a 2 year old would: By responding with major venom.

I’ve learned a few things in the last few months:

    1. Negativity is self breeding. If I’m negative, it comes back to me full force.

    2. If I handle myself by providing value, it is completely different. Hence, 3 free reports with no Opt in.

    3. Everyone sees things from their perspective and it is a true gift to be able to separate yourself from your own vision to see something from the perspective of someone else.

We all see things differently and in this world where social media is becoming a standard, be very careful of how you tell your stories.

It’s a zip file, try right clicking and select “save as”. It worked for me when I tried it.

As I said on Ricks blog, i think clarity is important when any internet marketing ‘Gurus’ are giving out free advce especially when targetted at newbies

I have however watched you video with an open mind and I will say this

Your stance of not meeting iron with iron has earned you a shed load of respect in my eyes

    Good luck

    Hey Ross,

As always I’m impressed with the way you handle yourself and aren’t afraid to speak your mind.

I actually agree with your statement about signing up to lists (Gmail rocks for this), you CAN learn a hell of a lot.

Just don’t spend all day reading them - I just skim them, look for good subject lines that grab my attention (that I can maybe model later), see how different offers/copy are structured and keep up to date with who’s doing what.

It only takes me a few minutes a day to get what I want from it, and I can keep up to date with what’s going on in the IM world.

    All the best,

    Richard

    Hey Ross,

    Great response!

Doing niche research by following other peoples newsletter is a great idea, in fact I should do more of it, thanks for reminding!

Look at all this traffic yer getting! Your Alexa ranking must be skyrocketing.

Jason Moffatt asked me to go after him just for the traffic.

As for me - I’m not monetizing the traffic on my site worth a flip - and I’m supposed to know something about monetizatin!

    Thanks for the conversation.

    Ross,
I had a look at the whole thread on Rick’s blog. And of course here, too.

I am impressed with your professionalism and your willingness to explain your words. Your reaction to his reaction is FABULOUS.

Your three points above about what you’ve learned about negativity and perspecitve are good lessons for anyone, not just Internet marketers.

You’ve boosted your credibility with me ten-fold.

    Warmly,
    Felicia

I apologize for any harmful comments on Rick’s post (second from the top), I guess I should have stay quite until more of the story had unfolded.

    No worries Hugh.

I’ve inserted my foot into my mouth so many times that I can taste it from a distance.

It takes a real man to stand up and admit that he made a mistake.

    Thanks,

Hi Ross, I gotta say that I agree with you. When I first started my learning curve I subbed to literally everything, signed up for every free call, d/led every mp3 I could find. Result, info overload; I had to learn to organize all the info. Good lesson. Organization is a good thing. Eventually I began understand and began pulling it all together. Any yes, there was conflicting advice, but after time I began to be able to sort it out on my own. I could go back and re-listen to to things that earlier were “over my head.” Final result is that I have developed a sense of discrimination and now can tell the hype from the straight and even though I still sign up for everything, I can figure out fairly quickly what to keep & what to toss.
This is a FAR cry from buying everything in sight. I recently listened to a marketing call that was selling an expensive package that is meant to be installed on a server. From the questions I could tell that 70% of the people listening had NO idea what the package was about. My conscience would never permit me to sell something like that to a clueless mark. Gives everyone a bad name when they realize that for them, the package is useless. One person was even worried about viruses coming to his machine if he bought this. To this individual above all, the promoter should have said “this is way too advanced for you, go learn the basics first.” But no, he was reassured that he would be walked through everything. To their credit they did explain it was server based, but I don’t think the caller “got it.” Seemed like everyone was hot to buy because there only whatever number packages available. Well, I guess the world will end for me if I’m not on that bandwagon. If it does, so be it, ’cause I wouldn’t spend 4k on that knowing what I know now. LOL. What I know now came from countless hours of digging around through the mud. You never know where the next little nugget will come from.
Maybe listowners might begin qualifying subscribers as to their level of knowledge — but that really isn’t realistic. Besides, how can anyone figure out which 2-3 marketers to choose to follow unless they sample a bit of everything?
Just my nickel –adjusted for inflation.

Awesome! Can’t wait to download and read.

I especially appreciate not seeing a full-out argument ensue. Read too many of those folks who do “act like 2-year-olds” and frankly, I’m too old to give a darn.
