I only just started using twitter seriously and turned on autofollow using tweetlater as I'd seen Perry Belchers presentation about it. Then I found John Reese and Mike Filsaimes posts about it. So I decided to run it for a week and see how it looked. I just turned it off. I doesn't look good :) I'm going to see how many followers I get without autofollow. Must admit the thought of 15k people tweeting at me (based on most of what i've seen tweeted) is pretty nauseating... I was wondering where you were going to land on this issue. I agree with your move especially since i think its the natural evolution when twitter continues to be overrun by spammers. Now, when i get pissed to see alot of spam , I spend a minute not just unfollowing but BLOCKING them. Blocking can raise a flag to twitter admin to kill the account entirely. Problem is, when you're following over 10,000 people it isn't manageable or enjoyable. I nearly stopped using twitter as a communication tool.
