I couldn’t believe someone had the balls to…
By Ross Goldberg | January 18, 2008
A few weeks ago, I was wandering through my logs and found that this one site was hitting one of my images a lot. I clicked on the link to see where it was and I found that the site had stolen one of my images! They were eating up my bandwidth and nobody had ever asked my permission, they not only swiped my image, but they left it on my server!
I got really upset and began this long process to replace the image with one that called out the site owner as a thief. It was fun, but it cost me a bit of time.
I even posted to here about it, so you would never have to figure out how to handle the situation if you ever faced it.
Recently, my friend Willie Crawford sent me an email about a product he did with some friends that would have prevented this long process.
This will replace any image that someone tries to “hotlink” to from one of your sites.
It will also stop them from copying the image and uploading it to theirs. The image shows up blank…
Possibly more important is the fact that it will protect any file. Even a pdf (no more of people posting your products on warez sites!).
I strongly recommend checking this one out!

Hi Ross
My initial thought from reading the first paragraph was to replace the image with something bad.
